This morning I am hearing ON4UN very well on 20M on the Short Path, which is a polar path on 20M:
The polar path to ON4UN grazes a weak auroral oval
3Y0Z is no where near the polar path that VK0EK was for the West Coast. But great news for any parts of the world where 3Y0Z is a polar path – you should do better with 3Y0Z than when VK0EK had massive aurora australis blocking some signal paths.
The other thing that I am noticing is that right now – the 40M Long Path is starting to fade to EU, but it is picking up on 20M. I am guessing that its because we are approaching the “Cross Quarter” days in between the Winter Solstice and the Vernal Equinox, which is “Ground Hog Day” in the US, and elsewhere.
I think by the time 3Y0Z hits the air that 20M will in fact be a “demarcation line” propagation wise. It might be open at the West Coast sunset, or perhaps the sunrise on 20M. I am very confident that at our sunset 40 and 30M will be great.
I am sure 17 and 15 will be open after our sunrise. So, 20M can flip either way, and it will be interesting to see how it actually pans out.
