I just renewed the VK0EK Heard Island DXpedition WordPress site – most likely for the last year
VK0EK Wins 2016 / 17 SWODXA DXpedition of the Year at Dayton
I have NINE fun anniversaries to celebrate this time of the year – the most important is my wedding anniversary – Kat and I have been married for 13 years now. Lucky 13 – I am happier than ever being with Kat.
Three years ago, The VK0EK Heard Island DXpedition had just ended, and I went to the Dayton Hamvention for the first and only time ever.
KY6R DXCC Honor Roll in One Sunspot Cycle
I made DXCC Honor Roll in 2013 (6 years ago) – just before Visalia IDXC that year, and my big “brag” is that I did it in 11 years – from my own shack and backyard of antennas on my small suburban lot. The first ~300 were made with 200 watts or less (I started out saying I’d do it with 100 watts and only wire antennas, but as I got close to 300, I realized that that wasn’t going to work out. So – I did add more power and aluminum antennas.
I got rid of my car 2 years ago in June – I don’t really miss it
I have been riding my bike to my BART bike locker to go to work for 2 years now – that flew by, and its worked out better than I expected. I just joined a new gym in Orinda – so I stop by there on my way home now every day – the cycling and weight lifting means my “gym” is my commute to work. This has been so convenient, and makes me feel great each day. My wife Kat and I share our other car, so as long as I plan ahead – I still get to travel around as much as when I had a car.
I turned 60 recently and also graduated from college 38 years ago – which is my (official career) work anniversary as well. I actually have been working consistently since I started High School – so that means it would be a solid 42 years of work where I had a paycheck and paid taxes every year. No cheating like our (so called) President.
My oldest son graduated from college 5 years ago, and my youngest son graduates from college in about 1 month.
Life’s Rich Pageant Indeed . . .
Nine things to be very thankful for. Throw in my first week at LendUp in Oakland, and make it an even TEN – heh heh
