FREQ 300 #26: American Samoa – KH8/K1TF

American Samoa – I’ve been chasing this one for a couple of days . . .

It took several calls, but it is in the log. I am sure that with any noise, my QRP signal is rough copy. In fact, I get through once a pileup has been whittled down, hence why it took several days before I finally got through. I also see that this is his last day, so patience sure is a virtue.

The best thing about QRP DX is that each and every new one is a great one. The “mundane” that was QRO DX is now special – so its about as close to getting that old DXing feeling again after all these years.

As I said before – I am really glad that I did the QRO thing starting in 2001, because I feel that I am one of the last to be able to earn DXCC HR #1 and even plain HR any more. More importantly, I do think the future will be something like this FREQ 300 – opening up an award using both the DXCC and IOTA could be something that helps keep DXing alive.

It certainly has for me.
