I worked Dale easily, even with 5 watts and no sunspots – 20M
While DU is backyard / easy DX for the West Coast, its gud DX for a QRPer. Hitting #35 is a nice little step up too. I’m in no hurry, but am finding that when I do have time to hang out in the shack and work QRP DX, it doesn’t take too long to snag that next one.
The band is interesting today – it sounds dead, but then you hear a weak signal pop up out of what is actually low noise. Both ends of the circuit are good though – after I worked Dale, I heard a UA0 very well – again – the signal just popped up from the abyss.
I did work UA0CBM in fact, so in a way I “cleaned out” 20M before the band closed – heh heh. I have worked a UA0 – but still need the QSL for QRP – so this is an insurance QSO.
