Bad Air / Good Fall Colors

Our Gingko tree in all its Fall Splendor We are having the worst air pollution – from the Camp Fire – that I have ever seen in my life. Its so dark and the smell is very thick. Our Japanese Maple – just beautiful We are lucky and thankful that we didn’t have a fire here in my area – the people of Paradise…

Time for a Witness

The fall colors around my house in Orinda. It’s interesting, the fall colors are vibrant this year, but with an earthy rust tone. Some years the colors seem like primary colors, some years they are almost “neon”. The tall gingko tree will most likely be the same primary yellow color it always is. It’s a brilliant yellow – gold, and it’s about to turn….

Ahhhh – Autumn in Northern California

The fall colors are starting to be stunning at my house – very rich this year indeed – deep orange and red, but a splash of yellow as well . . . Caught using a flash – at sunset Nearby trees – I have read that the West has better fall colors than the north east – where they say ts been a dud…

Fall Color Throwback Thursday

Fall Colors on Pepper Tree I lucked out – I purchased my house in the Spring, and had no idea what wonderful fall colors it was surrounded by. Its as if the house and yard knew I am a sucker for fall colors . . . Chinese Pistachio covering my driveway Gingko tree in our front yard Its ironic that the best SF Bay…

Offa Rex

All along the ride I was hearing this album – with several songs taking their place in my mind as I looked at stunning fall colors of yellow, gold, red, orange, crimson, rust and anything else…

The Pumpkin Tree

The Chinese Pistachio tree is looking like a neon pumpkin these days, but the leaves seem to be falling quicker than last year. All the colors of fall in one tree . . . Orange on the sunny side, yellow on the shady side I never get tired of this – like the ionosphere, its one of the magical things in nature.

DXCC and Ham Radio “Epoch”

Autumn colors are fleeting . . . as is life . . .  It was fun presenting at Pacificon in the Antenna Seminar, and for the first time in more than 10 years of presenting there, I arrived early and stayed for the entire seminar. Its always interesting to see how we all just keep aging – at Pacificon and at Visalia. The presenters…

Welcome October!

Market Street, San Francisco There’s been a nice “snappiness” in the air, and the Jet Stream has been right over the SF Bay Area. The fall colors have begun, but way behind last years schedule. I am sure its because of the rain we had this year – and that before – with the really bad drought that we had, the trees were stressed…
